Doll Diaries, Chapter 2: Making Hikari's Felt Doll Dress Tutorial

Happy weekend Fluffies! We are finally putting on some clothes for poor Hikari-chan and I am so excited to show you how to stitch this pretty little blue vintage dress. This is more of a basic tutorial on how to sew felt clothes for your dolls hence the simple design. I chose a mid-length dress this time around because it will go really well with Mary Janes and lace socks. I can't wait to show you how to make shoes and wigs during the next chapter of Doll Diaries.

This felt doll dress is pretty simple to make and the best part about it is that you are able to customize every aspect of the dress. You could also use my template and add in your own designs. I would love to see the different outfits you come up with!

For Hikari-chan's dress closure, I used a ribbon, tied it to the back and made a bow like you see in the picture above. I love how ribbons and bows have the infinite power to pretty up any kind of project. It is like the Midas touch of craft. I found it easier to use a ribbon closure instead of other mediums as it is SUPER simple and took me less than 5 seconds to attach. Great for beginners!

Alright my awesome fantastical Fluffeteers of Craftland. This is where I bid you farewell for the weekend. I have been meaning to upload an outfit lookbook video, but the weather has been awful for almost 2 months now. I love rainy days, but it pretty much messes up my filming schedule as I only film in natural light and won't have it otherwise. Doesn't help that my most trusted photographer only has a day in a week dedicated to my outfit filming and photo shoot needs. Cheers to that, my friends.

Nevertheless, I have a few interesting outfits to show you guys in the next few weeks and to be honest, I am pretty excited about it. Lastly (promise), we will be making wigs and shoes in the next chapter of Doll Diaries and once the basics are covered, it would only be right to have some fun and create themed outfits for our little dollies. So yeap! Can't wait.

Hikari's Story:

Hikari (Japanese) holds the meaning of Light when translated to English. I  named her Hikari as she is a Mori Girl inspired doll who loves being around living things, nature and lives in a cute cottage in the woods. Hikari loves sewing, painting and collecting wild flowers to decorate her petite looking dining table. She has a pet rabbit named Momo and little birdies named Flora and Fauna who visit her cottage every morning for bread crumbs.
